Undergraduate Study in New Zealand

Study in New Zealand for Indian students after 12th may occur at New Zealand universities, the course of study for a bachelor’s degree consists of a prescribed number of units, papers or courses. In each subject there are usually first year (stage I or 100—level), second year (stage 2 or 200 level) and third-year (stage 3 or 300 level) courses. A second-year course may be commenced only after prescribed passes in the subject at stage I and a third-year course only after required passes in the subject at stage 2.

Postgraduate Diploma:

A one-years full-time, designed for graduates, it builds on the subject matter in the academic field of the previous degree.

Graduate Diploma:

A 1-year, full-time course of study for graduates. It does not always require its students to have prior learning or experience in the subject matter of the Diploma.

Master’s Degree:

The Master’s degree is open to those who have completed a bachelor’s degree. The course of study is usually of one or two years of full-time study or its equivalent in part-time study.

Doctorate:

New Zealand Doctoral Research scholarships are a significant educational opportunity. Doctorate programs generally take at least 3 years of full-time study to complete. It is a fully research-based degree.

Approximate Cost of the Course at ITP’s: NZ $ 16,000 – NZ $ 25,000

Approximate Cost of the Course at Universities:

Undergraduate: $18000 – $25000

Postgraduate: $25,000 – $40000

Approximate Cost of Living: NZ $ 12,000 – NZ $ 15,000 per annum

1) Undergraduate – Bachelors

  • High School Certificate or 12 years of schooling with good grades.

  • Some courses such as Computing and Engineering will require Mathematics and /or Science as pre-requisites

  •  IELTS/TOEFL/PTE Required as per the institution’s entry requirements.

2) Postgraduate – Masters

  • A good academic record in bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.

  • Any work experience in the field will be helpful

  • The business schools for a quality MBA programs at some Universities students need to have work experience along with their bachelor’s degree

  • IELTS 6.0 or above as per institution’s entry requirement.

Visa:

  1. In order to apply for the student VISA, the student needs to have good academics

  2. Relevant background to the course of choice.

  3. Justified intention to study in New Zealand

  4. Proof of funds to support the tuition fees and the living expenses
